Promoting Statistics: On Becoming Valued and Utiliized – Mini Paper Appearing in Summer 1989 Newsletter

Abstract: In order to be valued and utilized by the community the statistician must be a combination of purveyor of the scientific method, practitioner of the scientific method, and entrepreneur. Statisticians can achieve this optimal combination by becoming team players, being good communicators, delivering to the customer what he/she wants and needs, and using the scientific method to evaluate their own discipline.
