Evaluating a Change to a Production Process Mini Paper Appearing in the Fall 1989 Newsletter
Abstract: Any change to an existing production system should be treated as an experiment. The goal of the experiment is the accurate determination of the effect, if any, the change to the process has had on product performance before a production scale implementation of the change. It is important to carry out the experiment under controlled conditions so as to not be misled by existing production variability.
