Shankar “Shank” Lakhavani, Master Black Belt

Shankar “Shank” Lakhavani is a Six Sigma Lead Master Black Belt for Eaton Corporation’s Cutler-Hammer Power and Control Systems Operations (PCSO) in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He is responsible for managing and training Six Sigma Black Belts and Green Belts within the PCSO plants and other business locations in the United States, Mexico, Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic.

As a Lead Master Black Belt, Shank also has responsibility to conduct enterprise-wide Six Sigma Black Belt projects within PCSO locations. These other PCSO locations range from small to large manufacturing plants, distribution centers, product development, and engineering sites. His extensive expertise and application of Six Sigma disciplines have generated positive bottom-line impact for Eaton Corporation in the tens of millions of dollars.

Lakhavani earned his master's degree in manufacturing systems engineering from the University of Pittsburgh, his master's in electrical engineering from Queen’s University, Kingston, Ontario, Canada, and his bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from the University of Sind.

He is a senior member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers and the American Society for Quality. Lakhavani is also an ASQ-Certified Six Sigma Black Belt and a Certified Quality Manager. He is also a Chartered Electrical Engineer in the United Kingdom. Lakhavani has authored numerous articles and presentations on electrical engineering, Six Sigma and other topics.
