The State University of Iowa Section 1303 of the American Society for Quality was established in October of 1944 as an outgrowth of a War Production Board course presented in Iowa City by Dr. Lloyd A. Knowler. Our section was six months old when the national ASQC organization was formed in April of 1945. The section's origin is honored in its name, State University of Iowa, which is the former name for the University of Iowa.
