American Society for Quality

Mansfield Section 0811

Welcome to the new year for Mansfield ASQ,

This is always such a busy time for most of us with vacations ending, school starting, winterizing boats & cabins, getting some last minute summer activities in before the weather turns cold. Football, soccer, & band starting. And swimming and camping ending.

This email is to let you know that your local ASQ activities are starting up again for your personal and professional development. It is there for the taking. So grab a hold and join in.

Our first meeting of the year is Thursday of next week. And most of you probably remember that our meetings/tours are traditionally the second Thursday of the month (September thru May, except December)

So again don?t miss the opportunity for some fine food & drink, and fine quality fellowship next Thursday.

The e-newsletter still has some areas for updating. But most of it is up to date.

Joe Hildebrand
Mansfield ASQ Internet Liaison & Placement Chair

2.) Greetings from the Chair :

Welcome back fellow Quality Associates! Hopefully everyone had an enjoyable summer and visited many locations during their vacations. The Board has scheduled an exciting year with excellent presentations and tours planned for everyone to enjoy. This month?s presentation will be from the Stoneridge Control Devices new Quality Engineering Manager, David Melchor.

I have had the wonderful opportunity to work with him just a short time but he is going to be a great asset for the Stoneridge Control Devices facility in Lexington, OH. Also, the presenter for the October meeting has canceled so if anyone has anyone in mind that could bring some Quality information or tour to our group please let us know immediately!

Please don?t forget to put in your reservation for another one of Ingrid?s finest dinners of either the infamous Swiss Steak or Chicken for the upcoming September meeting on 9/13/2012.

Workforce Development Items:
To highlight the importance of manufacturing to the nation?s economy and draw attention to the many rewarding high-skill jobs available in manufacturing fields, organizations such as MEP, FMA, NAM, and MI have announced the launch of Manufacturing Day for October 5, 2012. Ohio organizations such as MEP, MAGNET and TechSolve have declared October as Manufacturing month.
Manufacturing Day is for students, parents, educators, media, customers, suppliers and the community at large. Visitors will learn about real career opportunities, training and resources.
What can RMC and its members do to promote Manufacturing Month?

4. RMC will host our fall quarter meeting on October 19th. We will open the meeting to all manufacturers.
5. It would be nice to have a manufacturer host a Manufacturing Before or After Hours Event in October. Anyone interested?
