A Mississippi-based meat producer is recalling more than 130,000 pounds of food products after a possible listeria contamination was discovered.
Valley Innovative Services, of Pearl, Miss., is recalling 130,071 pounds of meat and poultry frozen entree products that included waffles possibly contaminated with listeria, according to a press release.
Consumption of contaminated food can result in listeriosis, an infection that can cause fever, muscle aches, confusion and gastrointestinal distress, among other symptoms. The elderly and pregnant women are most at risk.
The affected items were produced and packaged from May 2016 to May 2017. They include:
“Traditions Creamy Chicken Patty & Waffle with Four Seasons Vegetables and Cabbage” in 11.4-oz. three-compartment tray packages.
“Traditions Creamy Chicken Patty & Waffle with Rib Meat and Cinnamon-Flavored Sweet Potatoes and Seasoned Green Beans” in 11.35-oz. three-compartment tray packages.
“Traditions Creamy Chicken Patty & Waffle with Cinnamon-Flavored Sweet Potatoes and Four Seasons Vegetables” in 12-oz. three-compartment tray packages.
“Traditions Turkey Ham & Waffle Cured Turkey Thigh Meat Chunked and Formed with Fruit Cocktail and Hash Brown” in 9.2-oz. three-compartment tray packages.
“Traditions Oatmeal with Waffle and Sausage Patty” in 7.4-oz. three-compartment tray packages.
Affected products were distributed nationwide. Anyone who purchased the products is urged to throw them out or return them to the retailer.
