Hyundai Expands Recalls for Shattering Sunroofs

NBC - 4 KFOR (Oklahoma)

February 28, 2013

A popular car company has expanded a recall for one of its most popular models.

In December, Hyundai recalled about 13,500 2012 Veloster hatchbacks because the panoramic sunroofs can shatter and result in injuries.

Now, the company is adding about 6,100 more Velosters in the United States to the recall.

The other vehicles were built from July 4, 2011 to Oct. 31, 2011.

At least five people have suffered from minor injuries from the sunroofs shattering.

Hyundai officials say the assembly of the sunroof may have been weakened during the installation.

The company will inspect and replace the glass if needed.
