Statistical Process Control for Geometrical Specifications: On the Monitoring of Roundness Profiles

Abstract: [This abstract is based on the authors' abstract.] A method for monitoring the bidimensional profiles of manufactured products is presented. The method combines a spatial autoregressive regression model with control charting. The effectiveness of the proposed method is demonstrated with process data in which the roundness of products obtained by turning is to be monitored. A simulation study shows the proposed method outperforms competing methods in terms of average number of samples required to detect out-of-control conditions.
