Reducing power consumption
There are two new spin-on separators for air/oil separation of compressors. The separator series, manufactured by Mann+Hummel, ensures clean compressed air and reduces energy consumption of manufacturing plants.
StarBoxXT and StarBox2 are the new spin-on separators. They are designed for a wide flow range to make their advantages available over the entire working area—even in compressors with variable speed drives.
Among the products’ features, the StarBoxXT offers a stable and reliable function in different operating ranges, as well as a reduced oil consumption by about 30%. The StarBox2 separates the oil from the compressed air while reducing power consumption.

Advanced analyzers for more accurate measures
A new advanced line of handheld laser-induced breakdown spectroscopy analyzers has been released.
The new Vulcan Optimum+ model has been improved to better analyze aluminum alloys. It features a new high-performance spectrometer, enabling the measurement of lithium in aluminum alloys, and it’s also capable of measuring boron-aluminum alloys. Boron and lithium are elements that cannot be measured with any handheld X-ray Fluorescence analyzer.
The Vulcan Optimum+ is an ideal tool for identifying modern aerospace alloys in manufacturing and scrapyards.
Fusing workflows to drive efficiencies
Leica Geosystems has released its Leica Cyclone 3DR, which is new reality capture software that fuses technology for centralized, full-scale point cloud management from Leica Cyclone with advanced, automated point cloud analysis and modeling from 3DReshaper.
The 3DR laser scanning software includes adaptable features for automating cleaning, modeling, meshing, extraction, inspection and reporting. 3D deliverables can be created to meet the needs of reality capture professionals across many fields.
Specialized workflows, such as construction monitoring, tunneling surveying and tank inspecting (based on the American Petroleum Institute 650/653 standard) are also available.

Faster throughput, better lighting
Faster benchtop digital video comparators with better illumination and design enhancements have been introduced by L.S. Starrett Co.
The HDV300 and HDV400 systems are much faster and enable greater user measurement throughput. At 10 mm/sec., speed on the Y-axis has tripled, and X-axis speed has almost doubled at 45 mm/sec. In addition, improved LED ring lighting provides a more consistent illumination.
The computer and M3 controller in the new systems are located inside the HDV housing, resulting in a clean design with minimal external wiring and connections. In addition, an optional “clean air kit” keeps airborne dust and contaminants out of the measuring system and control electronics.
Starrett HDV systems are rugged bench top machines that are ideal in a quality lab or on the shop floor. The housing is built of welded steel like other Starrett optical comparators.

Greater visibility for processing machines
There’s a new laser from LAP that offers greater visibility and can be integrated better into processing machines.
The XtrAlign HU laser, housed in IP67-rated stainless steel with a green laser diode, offers long, even-line projection at low installation heights. The green diode works especially well on dark surfaces and in brightly lit workspaces.
This line laser is specifically destined for integration into processing machines, as required in the wood, steel and other industries. It’s also waterproof and dustproof, as well as temperature resistant up to +40°C.

New platform for mining information
Hexagon’s Geosystems division has released a new integrated visualization and analysis platform that combines and organizes all sensor technology in one holistic view of a mining environment.
The new platform uses advanced software to show highly accurate information, accelerating decision making and improved safety. HxGN GeoMonitoring Hub combines total station, GNSS, radar and other monitoring sensor data from a mining project into one easy-to-understand view.
In particular, the hub fully integrates the IDS GeoRadar Guardian and Leica GeoMoS Monitor systems.
