Silicon Designs now offers samples of their micro electro-mechanical systems variable capacitive (MEMS VC) accelerometer modules, in ranges from ±2 g to ±100 g, through Amazon.com.
The MEMS VC accelerometer modules’ on-board voltage regulation and an internal reference minimize temperature and voltage changes while eliminating additional external power regulation requirements. Series units are relatively insensitive to wider temperature changes and gradients. Carefully regulated manufacturing processes ensure that each accelerometer is manufactured to virtually identical performance standards, allowing users to swap out parts in the same g-range with few-to-no testing modifications.

Machine capable of milling and turning operations
Heidenhain’s TNC 640 features a touch screen that allows operators to navigate through long lists, programs, tables and other content through what is known as “kinetic scrolling.” The kinetic scroll converts the impulse of hand contact into a scrolling speed. A short, slow swipe scrolls the screen over a few lines, while a long, fast swipe scrolls it over many lines.
Users can stop dynamic scrolling at any time with a short tap. Users move the programming and 3-D test graphics directly on the screen. The desired graphic view can be adjusted conveniently by touch. Users also can use touch gestures to zoom in and out for details, as well as move or rotate graphics.

LED lights offer 90-degree protection

Emitter offers uniform light for high precision applications
TT Electronics has introduced a compact, infrared LED emitter with a spot diameter of 7mm with optical sensing and position encoder applications. The OP207CL has an operating temperature range of −40°C to 105°C, which can withstand environments in a wide range of applications including industrial automation, safety systems, robotics, security detectors and other equipment requiring dependable position, proximity or motion sensing.
With up to 10mW total radiated power at the maximum drive current of 100mA, and 2.25° angle of half intensity, the OP207CL couples optical flux efficiently onto the receiving photo-sensor to ensure clearly detectable on/off transitions. The integrated collimating lens creates a tight beam profile for use with accuracy-dependent devices such as radial or linear encoders for absolute or incremental measurement, as well as long-range light curtains, edge detectors, scanners, and general optical sensing and switching.

Power take off
PTO ideal for severe applications
Twin Disc has released the HP500 power take off (PTO) that is hydraulically actuated that has a power rating of 373 kW at 1,800 rpm. The HP500 has a modular design that allows for side-load applications. A spring-applied, hydraulically released brake has been added as a standard feature. Pads and splines are interchangeable to accommodate varying pump sizes.
The HP500 is ideal for driving pumps, grinders, crushers, dredgers, chippers, shredders, heavy-duty drills and other severe applications.
