Abstract:Many quality principles are seen as universal, no matter what field or sector they are being applied in. However, some fields, such as health care, provide a different context for quality practices than in other fields. In most other fields, a lack of quality or poor quality practices can lead to frustrating and costly errors, and sometimes even injury or death. In the health care industry, quality is always a life and death matter, as poor quality practices can and very often do lead to preventable patient deaths.
