Onset’s InTemp family of pharmaceutical cold chain management products has released two solutions: InTemp CX500 series temperature loggers and the InTempConnect cloud-based data warehousing service. These solutions provide end-to-end visibility throughout the pharmaceutical supply chain—from the manufacturing plant, across distribution, to pharmacies, clinics and other healthcare facilities.
The InTemp CX500 series loggers provide in-transit temperature monitoring—without the need to open boxes—to reduce temperature excursions and handling errors. The InTempConnect cloud-based, data-warehousing service enables command-center control over logger deployments throughout the global supply chain.
Onset’s free InTemp mobile app enables users to view data from the loggers, check logger status, set alarms, and create and share secure PDF reports from their mobile devices. Reports from the InTemp mobile app can be uploaded to a dedicated account on the cloud-based InTempConnect data-warehousing service.
Pneumatic snap gauge
Pneumatic snap gauges are used in dimensional industrial production metrology to reliably measure shafts with strict tolerances. Customers previously had to constantly invest in new diameter-specific pneumatic snap gauges when producing a new type of workpiece. The Hommel-Etamic AG380 snap gauge from Jenoptik, however, can be quickly adapted to different diameters, providing measurements with the familiar level of precision.
The flexible snap gauge is ideal for small-scale and prototype production as well as mass production. The AG380 can be positioned and installed at the desired measuring stations.
A retrofit kit that makes it possible to easily convert any existing measuring system also is available.
Medical cord reel
Hunter Spring has recently expanded the availability of the DuraReel medical cord reels for hospitals and the medical device industry. The cord reel features a permanent antimicrobial additive that continuously protects the reel from mold, mildew and odor. An automatic pawl and ratchet system securely locks the cord at a desired length. A slight tug is all that is required to start the retraction mechanism. A standard ball stop keeps the cord within easy reach
All contact surfaces, such as the housing, ball stop, retractable cord and plug, have been molded with the antimicrobial additive that will not wash off or diminish over time. The DuraReel is ideal for operating theatres, recovery rooms, hospital wards and other places in a hospital where an extension cord is needed but a regular cord can present a tripping hazard. It also can be used on mobile equipment such as mobile X-ray carts, mobile lighting carts and telemedicine carts.
InspectionXpert has released the QualityXpert Beta. This is a cloud-based quality management system designed for precision manufacturers who need a platform to define, measure, analyze, improve and control their manufacturing processes. QualityXpert provides precision manufacturers with visual data collection at the source of production, automatic quality alerts, real-time reporting and easy access to data.
QualityXpert integrates with the InspectionXpert inspection planning tool, InspectionXpert OnDemand 2.0. The integration of InspectionXpert OnDemand 2.0 with the QualityXpert platform will facilitate the creation of inspection plans by extracting inspection characteristics from 2-D drawings or 3-D models quickly and accurately, and identifying each of with a unique balloon number prior to publishing them to the QualityXpert platform.
The sensors and fluid management systems business unit of Ametek aerospace and defense has developed a thermocouple with a sheath made from a ceramic matrix composite (CMC) material. The CMC material extends the measurement range of conventional thermocouples made from nickel-based alloys.
With its higher temperature capability, the CMC offers the dual benefit of extending the life of exhaust gas temperature thermocouples, thereby postponing engine overhauls allowing closer proximity of the thermocouple to the combustor. This closer proximity results in a more accurate measurement of the true turbine inlet temperature, which directly leads to a more efficient engine with lower fuel consumption.
Fastec Imaging has released the TS5-Q, a portable, battery-powered 5-megapixel high-speed camera with a 7-in. touch display. The TS5-Q is designed for many applications—from troubleshooting faults in manufacturing equipment, to creating professional commercial video content and analyzing of athletic performance.
The TS5-Q is designed with the goal of capturing high-quality, slow-motion video of a large or complex scene. The 5-megapixel sensor used in Fastec TS5-series cameras is capable of 1440p at 359fps. The camera’s resolution matches the resolution on 27-in. computer displays.
