Pelletizer and extruder
The Leistritz LHLG series air quench pelletizer mates with an extruder and enables die-face cutting of pellets in air for water soluble, highly filled and foamed formulations typically used for pharmaceutical, nutraceutical and specialty plastics products.
The die is electrically heated and the flow geometry is matched with the formulation and throughput rate. The die, blades, and all contact areas are fabricated of hardened stainless, tool and carbide steels.
A blower facilitates initial cooling and transport to a secondary cooling and transport mechanism. These include high-velocity venturi blowers, vacuum systems, cyclones, and vibratory cooling and classification equipment. Good manufacturing practice class systems are available for medical and pharmaceutical environments.

Turck has released an overmolded connectivity solution for J1939 Deutsch applications. This offering provides a solution for mobile equipment, and oil and gas applications in which environmental factors such as shock, vibration, cold temperatures, moisture and oils can affect performance.
Due to its overmolded design, extremelife jacketing, IP67 rating, the overmolded J1939 Deutsch connectors provide additional reinforcement, and abrasion and oil resistance. The overmolded J1939 Deutsch connectors come equipped with Turck’s extremelife-60 cabling, which allows for a flexible cable jacket that will not break or crack when pulled in extreme cold.
Turck’s overmolded Deutsch cables are constructed following the Society of Automotive Engineers specifications for J1939. Turck offers overmolded J1939-11 solutions for shielded applications, as well as J1939-15 solutions for unshielded applications, terminating resistors and tees.
Brown Engineering has released the Smartflow SWAP Valve with a molded body. The SWAP Valve is designed to simplify mold changes by clearing cooling water lines using shop air. The valve is a manually selectable device that supplies cooling water to the injection molds during processing or air to purge the water from the mold, cooling lines, supply and return manifolds prior to tool change.
The SWAP Valve features glass-filled nylon end plates with internal stainless steel discs. The materials were developed to provide dimensional stability and improved corrosion resistance. Stainless steel inserts surround the threaded water connections to provide rigidity and maintain thread geometry. Stainless steel mounting plates are integrated into the molded valve plates. A locking pin option is available for two-hand operation, preventing accidental valve-position changes.
Rotary airlock valve
DMN Inc. has designed a high-pressure (HP) rotary airlock valve. The HP valve’s configuration of the body and rotor protects products against degradation and prevents any axial air leakage. The DMN HP rotary airlock valves are suitable for applications in the metering and pneumatic conveying of granular products under a high-pressure maximum of 50.75 PSIg.
The HP valves are supplied with a 316 stainless steel body and aluminum end covers. The standard full end disc rotor is made of 316 stainless steel and has 12 fixed blades. The end covers have outboard bearings, and are lubricated and sealed. All models offer venting through the large vent hole.
The HP valves are available in three sizes, covering a capacity range of the rotor from 0.29–1.05 ft³ per revolution at 100% filling. The standard models are suitable for handling products up to a temperature of 176°F and a maximum pressure difference of 50.75 PSIg.
Mahr Federal’s wireless data transmission capability is now integrated within its families of MarCal digital calipers and MarCator digital indicators. MarCal digital calipers and MarCator digital indicators send data to a small i-stick receiver. MarCom software makes data acquisition simple: just take a measurement and transmit the measuring data directly into Microsoft Excel or via a keyboard code into any Windows program without the need for external transmitters or cables.
It also is possible to apply the wireless data collection capabilities to existing statistical process control applications. Each MarConnect i-stick wireless receiver supports up to eight measuring instruments with a range of up to 12 m. Mahr Federal’s line of mechanical comparative gages can be upgraded for wireless data transmission with the addition of a MarCator 1086 or 1087 wireless digital indicator.
MarCal 16 EWRi digital calipers are easy to read with a large clear digital display and include features such as lapped guideways, a reference system that retains the zero position setting, and a number of product options and accessories.
The MarConnect integrated wireless interface is active as soon as the i-stick is plugged in, and each caliper/indicator is identified by signal coding in the MarCom software preventing confusion with signals. Wireless data transmitters are built into the digital calipers and indicators; no interface boxes or additional batteries are required.
