Abstract:This article recommends and describes steps that an organization's project management team should take in planning and monitoring each key project, with specific recommendations given for managing complex projects. The article includes a case study of a large organization that was having difficulty in effectively managing its intellectual property royalty agreements. The new, more disciplined process resolved the previous cross-functional communication and process control issues. Moreover, the new process change procedure is periodically reviewed and coordinated with all the involved internal functions and with the owner of the intellectual property.
