Abstract:Changes in the healthcare landscape have pushed healthcare organizations to seek high-impact strategies for improving care and reducing readmissions. Hourly rounding is a high-impact strategy that drives culture change and improves outcomes. To create a culture of transparency and patient-centered care, rounding should span all organizational levels. Benefits of implementing full executive leader rounding within an organization include the following: 1) The human resources executive can gain a greater understanding of skills, behaviors, and traits needed by staff and screen for these attributes as part of the hiring process; 2) The chief operating officer and vice presidents who cover support services can more fully understand the unfiltered patient voice and communicate a stronger line of sight for staff between operational objectives, ancillary functions and patient service delivery; and 3) The chief executive officer can gain greater transparency into processes, support staff recognition …
