Abstract:In today’s global economy, more and more American quality professionals have the opportunity to teach quality philosophies, programs and techniques in Asia within their organizations’ local sites, inside university classrooms, or at customer or supplier locations. Understanding some of the culture differences and adjusting teaching methods and styles are critically important in order for educators to accomplish their teaching missions in Asia. The first thing you need to do to improve Asian students’ classroom participation is be a role model and show how to be an enthusiastic participant. Set clear expectations about discussion participation at the beginning of your course, and make it clear you are serious about these expectations. If conditions allow, therefore, hold separate classes for managers and their subordinates.
