Cognex’s DataMan 9500 industrial-grade mobile computer is ideal for reading challenging direct part mark (DPM) codes in applications where operators need to view the code data on an integrated handheld device. The DataMan 9500 provides direct connectivity to factory networks through Wi-Fi and an integrated graphical user interface.
The DataMan 9500 is designed for applications such as subassembly rework, repair or maintenance; inventory management; and process tracking. The DataMan 9500 mobile computer was specifically designed for the factory floor. It is small enough to fit in the hand and offers ergonomic controls.
ASI Datamyte has released version 2.1 of the model 600 data collector. The model 600 data collector supports an optional built-in barcode scanner. The barcode scanner uses image capture technology (camera-based) and eye-safe LEDs for illumination and aiming. No lasers are used, which eliminates safety concerns.
Scanned barcodes may be stored as data or used to select an inspection plan. The scanner has been tested with barcodes on paper and metal; on flat, curved and irregular surfaces; directly and through clear and tinted glass; and in a variety of lighting conditions. The scanner is capable of reading slightly smudged or partially obscured barcodes and is activated by a single key press.
Zontec has released an update to the Synergy 2000 Multi-Function Toolbox. The Multi-Function Toolbox collects data in real time from programmable logic controllers, coordinate measurement machines and similar plant hardware. It also enables companies to transfer legacy data from other applications or databases, integrate data from manufacturing applications and serves as a communication bridge.
Some of the new features include the ability to connect to multiple open platform connectivity servers and save selected tags as a group in that client. It also sets up data transfers for multiple comma-separated value files and offers the latest version of Microsoft Net 4.0.
Optical surface measuring
Fries Research and Technology’s white light interferometer (WLI) microscope is an optical surface measuring system for non-destructive measurement. It enables 3-D measurements on a surface with high vertical resolution. The MicroScope WLI is ideal for R&D fields and those working with optical microscopes, such as universities and biological and medical laboratories.
The MicroScope WLI’s axial measurement range is 400 µ. For maximum accuracy, the 4-fold turret is equipped with a piezoelectric drive for the WLI objective. By a selection of objectives, various spot sizes and resolutions can be realized. The metrology tool comes with a PC with the FRT Mark III software for profile and topography analysis, roughness, step height, and 2-D and 3-D filters. The average measurement time is only a few seconds.
In addition to the interferometer objectives, three standard microscope objectives can be mounted.
Turck has announced the FGEN advanced input/output (I/O) module (AIM) station. The FGEN is ideal for use in on-machine, fixed I/O applications in environments where conditions may not be conducive to traditional I/O. It is designed to provide communication capabilities to industrial ethernet networks.
The FGEN combines multiple ethernet protocols in a single device, yet only allows one ethernet master to control the outputs while the input and diagnostic data are available to the other protocols. The FGEN AIM station offers isolated power for inputs and outputs, and several I/O configurations, including 16 inputs and 16 outputs.
The FGEN AIM station is available in three different types of Turck’s rugged housing for operation in harsh environments.
