Abstract:Argentinian process outsourcing company tgestonia engaged in a transport optimization project to deal with complaints about inefficient service and delivery. The project used a DMAIC process. Defining and measuring the inefficiencies identified a number of problems, including a high frequency of visits to the same location, extremely complex processes that placed a heavy burden on employees, process invoices that took almost seven weeks to be received, and delivery van fill rates averaging just 60 percent. Analyzing the situation identified five root causes with the greatest impact: poor customer planning, invoice processing problems, lack of route optimization software, deficient document monitoring, and difficulties generating invoices. The improvement team settled on a group of solutions, such as improved delivery planning and invoice processing, automatically calling delivery destinations, and installing needed software, that addressed all five issues.
