Abstract:The Bowling Green University Department of Engineering Technologies developed the Quality Systems Educational Collaboration (QSEC) system to educate organizations across Ohio in lean Six Sigma techniques. A group of Bowling Green graduate students were challenged as part of an online course to study QSEC and identify where Six Sigma techniques could improve the system. The students developed a self-sustaining audit system to understand fundamental aspects of QSEC and identify areas for improvement. The audit applied the principles of DMAIC, defining objectives such as getting background on the QSEC project and developing an audit system, measuring by taking steps based on the objectives, analyzing those steps to produce findings and conclusions, and improving and controlling the results of the steps taken.
