Absorbance scale range
Starna Scientific has extended the absorbance scale range of its potassium dichromate linearity set of certified reference materials to address a customer requirement in quality assurance laboratories to make multipoint linearity checks across the UV absorbance range.
The use of potassium dichromate solvated in diluted perchloric acid is an established method for validating the absorbance scale and linearity of a spectrophotometer in the UV region and Starna’s potassium dichromate linearity offering, which requires no preparation time, has been created to prove the linearity of the spectrophotometer UV absorbance scale up to 3.5 A using a range of 0 to 240 mg/l solutions.

Gas leak detector
InventHelp’s portable gas detector identifies potential gas leaks. It can detect propane, butane, acetylene and methane (natural gas) leaks. It sounds an alarm and sets off an LED indicator when the presence of gas is detected at levels higher than 1,200 ppm. The portable gas detector can detect gas at 1/4 of the gas explosion risk. The detector can also be used to check gas leaks in pipes, fittings, valves, gas storage tanks, home appliance tanks and hot water heaters.
The product is made of urethane rubber, and it is small enough to fit in a pocket. It uses two AA batteries, and no calibration is required over the course of the product’s lifetime.
A three-light LED indicator flashes green when the power is on, yellow if low amounts of gas are detected and red if amounts higher than 5,000 ppm, are detected.
Nelson’s Type HLT self-regulating heater cables maintain fluid flow over a range of operating temperatures. They have been used in the hydrocarbon and chemical industries.
The Type HLT cables maintain process temperatures up to 250° F to meet viscosity and fluid requirements and are suitable for use on pipes, tanks and vessels.
The cables also provide freeze protection for periodically steam-cleaned components and structural anti-icing. The cables provide a conductive ground path when installed on nonconductive surfaces, such as plastic or painted pipe.
Type HLT cables are self-regulating, adjusting heat output automatically. The heater cable derives its self-regulating characteristic from the inherent properties of the conductive core material.

LED lighting technology
Cooper Crouse-Hinds has released the EV LED luminary. LEDs are solid-state semiconductor devices that convert nearly all the electrical energy directly into visible light. The EV LED is a bright white, class I, division 1, factory-sealed LED luminary for general illumination.
The operating life of an LED ranges from 50,000 hours to more than 100,000 hours. Three key factors—luminary design, junction temperature and ambient operating temperature—affect the actual life span. In all three cases, heat management is the primary consideration, as the efficiency of heat removal from the LED has direct impact on its longevity. Cooper Crouse-Hinds made this a priority when designing the LED luminaries.
The EV LED is built for areas that are difficult to service, expensive to shut down or that require an increased degree of safety. The EV LED provides enhanced safety with instant illumination and restrike, crisp white light, cold temperature operation and a “no-lights-out” feature. This feature is designed for continuous light output, even if a single LED fails.

Mahr Federal’s 36 B diameter/outside diameter (ID/OD) indicator gage is bench-mounted and measures IDs and ODs on the shop floor. It’s available in T-plate and V-plate styles and in two sizes.
The T-plate configuration gives a diameter reading directly across the diameter, while the V-plate configuration is self-centralizing. Frequently used to inspect parts with odd-numbered lobing conditions, the three “V” jaws measure the distance between the sensitive contact and the chord formed by the two reference contacts. This measurement bears a direct relationship to the diameter, and compensation is made by a special ratio indicator so diameter is read directly.

Biohit’s filter tips are designed to ensure sample integrity, safety and minimized contamination risks. They can be used in applications including molecular biology, microbiology and cell culture, as well as radioactive work. The filter tips have been designed to meet high quality and purity demands and provide an effective barrier between the pipette and the sample.
The higher filter positioning in the models prevents the liquid sample from touching the filter, further enabling safer pipetting in reverse and multidispensing modes.
The filter tips cover the volume range from 0.1-1,200 µl including new sizes for 10, 20, 100/120, 200, 300, 1,000 and 1,200 µl volume capacities. They are packed in color-coded single tray boxes. The tips are made of virgin polypropylene, and the filters are polyethylene.
