This author clearly does not understand lean, and just as clearly as a bias toward 6-sigma (after all, he sells 6-sigma training...). He gravely misleads his readers, by propagating misconception and/or misinformation (one of the most egregious example being when he writes that traditional lean is best applied to production, while 6-sigma can be applied throughout the enterprise; just the opposite is true!) It is a sad fact that this article was published; obviously no peer review, or even basic editorial review, was applied.

Nicely presented material that is often overlooked. Knowing where tools and concepts come from helps with effective engagement. Inexperienced LSS practitioners, like inexperienced problem-solvers in general, might miss the subtle power provided and jump to the tired and always ineffective conclusion that they "already know all that" (i.e., the material presented in this article. To me, you can't review the basics too often. It's most always the basics that trip you up.
