Abstract:Quality processes in China today continue to be influenced by remnants of ancient policies and practices. When Huawei Technologies, one of China’s largest telecommunications manufacturers, recently declared its intention to become the Toyota of the telecom industry, the company studied Western telecom manufacturing techniques and invested heavily in the latest tools and technology. Huawei’s management systems are based on ISO 9001 and TL 9000 processes and standards are applied to all product lines in design, development, manufacturing, sales, installation, and service.
