Six Sigma, Value and Competitive Strategy

Abstract:Aligning Six Sigma deployment with an organization’s strategy is complicated by the fact that most organizations have three levels of strategy – corporate, strategic business unit (SBU), and competitive. The tools of Six Sigma are most effectively applied at the competitive strategy level, where the focus is on value enhancement. Six Sigma is also about value. Competitive strategy can detail a plan of where and how to deploy Six Sigma in its value enhancing role that cannot be articulated clearly at the corporate or SBU strategy level.
