Sherwin-Williams Produces Coating for Inspection
Sherwin-Williams Industrial and Marine Coatings has introduced Duraplate ultra high solids epoxy with fluorescing optically active pigments (OAP). Duraplate allows tank lining applicators to check the coating instantly for pinholes, holidays and other discontinuities. It also helps to verify uniform coverage and proper film thickness.
Duraplate is available as a single or multi coat application. With the single coat application, pinholes, holidays and improper film thickness will appear black in contrast to the fluoresce coating when viewed under ultraviolet light. The opposite is true for multi coat systems. When the primer with OAP is used and the topcoat does not have OAP, pinholes with fluoresce are visible under inspection of the topcoat.

GMP Visually Reports Real-Time Trouble
Lyons Information Systems has added the Global Performance Monitor (GPM) to its Lyons quality audit tracking system (LQATS). GPM allows apparel manufacturers to view worldwide quality performance on one screen in real-time using any web browser.
LQATS manages garment and fabric quality audit and inspection information across apparel manufacturers’ mills and manufacturing and distribution centers located worldwide. Manufacturers can view this information prior to suppliers’ shipments. GPM can help companies identify real-time trouble spots visually as they develop to prevent manufacturing losses.

Membrane Enhances Pressure Compensation Seals
Schreiner ProTech’s polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) membrane is an air permeable and waterproof material designed for ventilation of equipment housings. Schreiner developed the PTFE membrane to enhance the effectiveness of its self-adhesive and nonadhesive pressure compensation seals (PCS), allowing air molecules to pass through the PCS while restricting passage of water, oil and dirt particles.
The enhanced seals protect sensitive electronic components by providing chemical and thermal resistance to extreme elements. This ensures reliable functionality of electronic systems in products like pressure sensors or small electric motors.

Kinetic Systems Introduces Low Vibration Workstation
Kinetic Systems has introduced the MK26, an ultra low natural frequency vibration isolation workstation. The MK26 uses the Minus K stiff spring and negative stiffness mechanism to achieve a low net vertical stiffness without affecting the static load supporting capability. Horizontal isolation is provided by beam columns connected in series with the vertical motion isolator.
The MK26 can be configured for a wide variety of locations where disturbances due to external vibrations can adversely affect the operation of sensitive equipment. The MK26 is suitable for applications such as analytical balances, cell injection, confocal microscopes, patch clamping, optical microscopes, wafer probing, sensor calibration and atomic force microscopes.

Penetrating Solvent Aids In Routine Maintenance
CRC Industries has introduced Knock’er Loose Plus penetrating solvent, an industrial strength penetrant that drops the temperature of the area in contact with the spray. Knock’er Loose Plus permeates rust, scale, gum, grease and corrosion with a low surface tension formula that gets into cracks, seams, threads and joints. It aids in the disassembly of plant machinery, tools and equipment for routine maintenance and emergency repairs.
Knock’er Loose Plus loosens rusted and corroded nuts, bolts, couplings, fittings, hinges and frozen components. It is also NSF H2 registered for use in meat and poultry plants.

Shrinkwrap Available For Three Climates
Dr. Shrink provides shrinkwrap as a way to protect equipment from dirt and the damage that can happen on a factory floor or job site. It covers a range of materials from backhoes and machinery to spare parts and lumber piles. Shrinkwrap can be ventilated with accessories to prevent mold and mildew and an optional zipper door allows access to equipment in storage.
Shrinkwrap is available in three colors to suit the climate. Blue absorbs heat, which allows ice and snow to slide off. White is best for warmer temperatures as it reflects heat. Clear shrinkwrap allows users to see the covered object and should be used for indoor applications with proper ventilation in cooler temperatures.

Stainless Steel Replaces Glass in Line of Syringes
KD Scientific’s line of stainless steel syringes is designed to be used instead of glass syringes when pressures and forces are high, eliminating syringe breakage. The syringes offer good resistance to most aggressive liquids. Wetted parts are #316 stainless steel and Viton featuring electron beam welding.
The syringes are available in 2.5, 8, 20, 50, 100 and 200 ml sizes and have removable replacement tips. They are also compatible with KD Scientific’s line of automated syringe pumps.

Borescopes Check For Defects in Deep Bores
The Hawkeye Pro and Classic Slim borescopes from Gradient Lens check for defects in parts and products with very deep bores. The scopes are appropriate for inspecting metal machined parts, firearms, tubing and other products. The scopes’ lens systems allow for relaying images at a long distance while maintaining the quality of the image. Users can see defects and surface finish in deep bores and crossholes.
Available in 22 in. lengths, the scopes feature a 0° direction-of-view and 42° field-of-view and offer a rotating 90° direction-of-view with a mirror tube attachment.
