Simple Tools for Complex Systems

Abstract:Complex problems don't always require complex solutions. Pareto analysis and process mapping are examples of simple tools that can reduce the defects of a complex manufacturing process. A high-tech manufacturer of electromechanical devices put these tools to use in a Six Sigma based technique to achieve breakthrough improvements resulting in a 60 percent reduction in nonconformance levels.
