PetroChina's Strategic Planning Focused on Quality

Abstract:PetroChina is a consortium of numerous previously state-owned small- to medium-sized oil companies. Despite modernization efforts taken to reposition itself in the global market, PetroChina faced strong competition from both foreign and domestic sources that threatened its previously secure market position. In response to this challenge, the company has launched a strategic development plan that stresses brand recognition through improved product and service quality and the adoption of internationally recognized quality management standards. In addition to adopting ISO standards, PetroChina incorporates Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award and European Foundation for Quality Management excellence criteria into its quality policy.
