Abstract: Little research exists examining the correlation between ethical behavior and workplace engagement. Workplace deviance is voluntary action by organizational members that violates organizational norms and has adverse effects on either the organization or the workplace. Research suggests that an increased ethical climate decreases workplace deviance and that personal ethics, individual self-interest, and organizational focus on employees all affect the likelihood of an individual engaging in workplace deviance. Leaders who encourage workplace engagement by making workers feel involved and valued and demonstrating leadership engagement will create an ethical environment that reduces workplace deviance.
