Abstract: Innovation, the process of moving an invention or idea through research and development to the marketplace, is important for the competitiveness and evolution of organizations. Statistics can help promote and facilitate innovation in a number of ways, including idea evaluation, assessment of prototypes and evaluation of product quality. A panel of industry leaders answer questions on innovation and statistics, including the relationships between innovation, statistical thinking, and statistical engineering.
