Designed Experiments with Fixed and Varying Factors - A Cautionary Tale

Quality Engineering vol. 21 issue 4 - November 2009

Abstract: [This abstract is based on the authors' abstract.] A case study presents some important aspects to consider when conducting experiments to reduce variation in an existing process. One thing to consider is that the search for a cause of the variation should be kept separate from the search for a solution to the problem. Another important point is the need to carefully consider factors that normally vary and those that do not.

Keywords: Case study; Variation; Design of experiments (DOE)
