Is 10,000 hours Enough?

Abstract: I have worked with world-class athletes for over 15 years now. Experience tells me that 10,000 hours of mediocre practice will not help anyone become world class. Many athletes actually do complete 10,000 hours in their career. Those hours are often comprised of a mixture of under-par, mediocre, slightly above average and quite good practice. As a consequence, they ‘put the hours in’ but never become truly elite.
