Article Abstract

Stoplight control rules can be used as the basis for acceptance sampling of incoming units or process control. In this paper we determine the acceptance probability (Pa) and average outgoing quality (AOQ) that is achieved by using the standard stoplight rules, assuming that the measured characteristic is normally distributed. We also determine the maximum AOQ (AOQL) for any distribution of the characteristic.
