Article Abstract

A scheme for the design of attributes CUSUM control charts using narrow limit gauges is presented. This scheme yields attribute sampling plans having specified average run lengths (ARLs) when the process is in or out of control. We demonstrate that for given ARLs, the necessary sample size for narrow limit CUSUM charts may be substantially smaller than for p-charts and Shewhart charts.
