Article Abstract

ANSI/ASQC Z1.9-1980, the civilian version of MIL-STD-414, is intended to be used with switching rules in moving among tightened, normal, and reduced inspection to achieve overall scheme performance superior to any of the constituent plans. This study evaluates the performance of the Z1.9 schemes in terms of probability of acceptance, average sample number, average outgoing quality, and average outgoing quality limit. It points out and quantifies the advantages of using the switching rules.
