Article Abstract

A skip-lot sampling program is described consisting of three states:

  1. lot-by-lot inspection
  2. skip-lot inspection
  3. skip-lot interruption.
The proposed switching rules are based on controlling three characteristics:
  1. the number of lots inspected during the lot-by-lot state until qualification
  2. the number of lots inspected during the skip-lot state until detection of a change in quality
  3. the probability of resuming skip-lot inspection from the interruption state.
The program has been submitted as a proposed ANSI standard to the ASQC Statistical Standards Committee and currently is in the Draft 2 stage of acceptance.
