Article Abstract

The author describes the control of quality in the Machining Division of IBM Endicott, which employs an operator-audit plan of inspection. In this system the operator controls quality at the process point, thus reducing the manufacture of defective parts. An audit is performed by an inspector simply to monitor quality.
