Article Abstract

A task force of statistical experts was appointed to work with a team of software engineers to develop a micro-computer based statistical package. The primary application of the package is to aid in improving product quality and reliability, so it was important to build that quality into the software package. In any statistical package, the most important quality characteristics are accuracy, performance, data handling, ease of use, error handling, support and clarity of manuals, and customer satisfaction. In this paper, we will discuss the process by which we assured these characteristics were the primary concern in the development process.
