Article Abstract

Operator inspection is a viable approach for improving product quality and general quality awareness. It places responsibility for product quality where the work is performed. However, for such a program to be effective, it requires planning and structure. This paper describes how the manufacturer of large, complex electrical apparatus successfully developed and implemented an operator inspection program in a factory with a union-represented work force.
