Article Abstract

[This abstract is based on the authors' abstract.]The performance of a virtual system for vision based statistical process control (SPC) is demonstrated and compared in a case study with that of a real vision system. Similarities between the systems are examined with a chi-square test and an X chart experiment. Results indicate that the virtual system can replace the real system in preliminary tests. Because of its low cost and adaptability, the virtual system may encourage applications of vision systems to SPC.
