Article Abstract

[This abstract is based on the authors' abstract.]

A case study reveals how an insurance company, Louisiana Workers Compensation Corporation, transformed the balanced scorecard theory into a functional business tool beneficial to the entire organization. The executive staff's commitment of time, money and resources to this initiative resulted in payoffs beyond expectation. The challenges and opportunities encountered in translating balanced scorecard into definable goals and measures in each of the four dimensions - financial, customer, internal processes, and learning and growth - are reviewed.
