Article Abstract

[This abstract is based on the author's abstract.]

Multimedia extensions of a conventional computerized Quality Information System (QIS) are important in the process of developing pilot applications to demonstrate the potential of multiple media data source utilization. Multimedia QIS not only connects in-house facilities and personnel but can also interface with systems of suppliers and customers to support the theme of total quality. Findings from feasibility studies are reported, as is the current state of technology in realizing the concept. A proposal on the use of hypermedia and processing information stored in various media is explained as an interface to the multimedia QIS. Application scenarios are discussed.
