Article Abstract

[This abstract is based on the authors' abstract.] The application of robust methods in construction of statistical quality control charts is demonstrated. Two estimators that are more robust than the sample mean and sample standard deviation are introduced. They are the Hodges-Lehmann and the Shamos-Bickel-Lehmann estimators. A new robust univariate control chart based on these estimators is proposed. Numerical examples illustrate the method. Its performance is investigated in a simulation study.
