Article Abstract

QUEST (Quality Empowerment Survey for Teams) is a tool that helps teams make the most of their strengths while remediating their weaknesses. Team members use the QUEST survey to rate team factors such as respect, recognition, communications, problem solving, resources, creativity, and structure. This analysis of strengths and weaknesses is facilitated by repeated probings into why there are impediments to team effectiveness. A QUEST analysis and a team interview questionnaire were applied to team development in the field of education. This identified seven requirements for team empowerment: team-building training; adequate allotment of time; openness for opinions and ideas; representativeness of team membership; respect and trust; communication; and recognition.
