Article Abstract

This is the second and final installment of nontraditional articles on quality as a way of life. The first installment appeared in the July 1997 issue of Quality Progress. In the current issue there are ten articles, seven dealing with quality in the family and three with quality in athletics. The family items cover: goals; mission statements; improving family life despite the lack of formal selection processes for family membership; quality tools for handling a family project; dealing with a baby's crying; and selecting an assisted-living apartment. The sports items describe: process steps for decathlon preparation; the plan-do-study-act cycle as a basketball improvement tool; and control charts for workout monitoring.
