Transition at Sears Increases Procedure Compliance
In 1999, Sears committed to a 5-year ISO 9001:2000 registration effort
in its entire line of In-Home and Carry-In centers—a total of 582
locations. On March 18, 2003, Sears Parts and Repair Services completed
the transition of 8 units from ISO 9002 registration. However, Sears has
enjoyed a byproduct of its transitions/initial registrations to ISO 9001:2000:
improved compliance by employees with QMS procedures as a result of the
upgrade. Irina Shulman of Sears provides a “tour” of Sears
Parts and Repair Services implementation and registration efforts and
the impact of ISO 9001:2000 registration at this major services provider.
