Little Change In ISO/IEC 17025 Despite Alignment Mandate
How do you define alignment when comparing ISO 9001:2000
with ISO/IEC 17025, which is outside the normal sector-specific
requirements mode? Peter Unger writes that WG 25 addressed
this question when it met in January 2002 with a mandate from
ISO/CASCO to align ISO/IEC 17025 with ISO 9001:2000 in revising
the lab requirements standard. Now that WG 25 has begun the
revisions process, the outcome may not be what everyone expected
as far as alignment is concerned. Unger provides details of
the revision process so far and indicates that little change
to the requirements of the standard are likely.
