BEAM Initiative Seeks to Address Differing Business Needs
Mary Hattrick and Eugene E. Hutchison write that, when
the QuEST Forum went global in 1998, feedback indicated that
a QMS standards approach was a good thing but had its limits.
There was much more energy around the idea of Business Excellence
Models and an awareness that different tools were needed at
different points in the quality management maturity journey.
They explain their efforts to promote business excellence
and provide support for the telecommunications industrys
drive toward business and performance excellence, particularly
its exploration of BEMs and its development of the Strategic
Planning and Improvement Guidance Handbook.
