DaimlerChrysler Corporation: Moving From a Quality
System to QMOS
In part 1 of a 2-part series, Nate Cunningham writes that
while much of the attention these days is on ISO 9001:2000,
its introduction of the QMS concept and its advocacy of a
process model approach should lead to a future for quality
that is greatly enhanced. Cunningham emphasizes, however,
that an ISO 9001:2000-based QMS alone is not enough and proposes
his own solution based on the history of quality management
at DaimlerChrysler Corporation for how to make that change
within an organization. He examines how Chrysler came to develop
the Chrysler Operating System and how COS became the basis
of an MQOS that permitted integration with QS-9000.
