IATF Provides Limited Transition Insight
Two months after publication of ISO 9001:2000, automotive
suppliers are waiting to see what the future holds. In response
to questions posed to the "Big Three" members of
the IATF and Harold Hodder of the IAOB, THE OUTLOOK
was provided with the most recent IATF communiqué,
dated October 4, 2000, along with some additional information.
The communiqué indicates the IATF members will revise
TS 16949:1999 to align with ISO 9001:2000 by March 2002, have
no plans to revise QS-9000, VDA 6.1, EAQF94 and AVSQ94 to
be based on ISO 9001:2000 and will permit combined registration
to ISO 9001:2000 and TS 16949:1999, although separate
certificates will be issued. An examination of the statements
in the IATF communiqué and additional information from
the "Big Three" members is presented.
