Stepping Up to ISO 9004:2000: Focus on Objectives
What is the most critical action your organization must take
to achieve continual improvement of its QMSs effectiveness?
Russell T. Westcott writes that, among organizations that
have used ISO 9004:2000 to pursue continual improvement, the
answer is simple but not necessarily easy to do: Focus
on setting, implementing and following-up on quality/performance
objectives. In the fifth entry in a series on stepping
up to ISO 9004:2000 to go beyond a baseline ISO 9001:2000
QMS and pursue TQM, Westcott discusses how to deploy strategic
objectives throughout the organization using quality and performance
objectives, the value of using action plans to achieve most
objectives and the importance of evaluating continual improvement
effectiveness.
