Marketplace: New QS-9000 Registrations Decelerate in
Past Two Years
Stewart Anderson writes that, as expected, the growth of
QS-9000 registrations in North America peaked in 1997 and
appears to be slowing, most likely due to saturation among
Tier 1 suppliers. However, flowdown of quality requirements
is still impacting the supply chain, with Tier 2 suppliers
now obtaining QS-9000 registration in response to Tier 1 requirements.
Using World Preferreds Registry data on QS-9000 and
TE Supplement registrations, Anderson examines North American
QS-9000 and TE certificates issued annually and registration
trends in the top 10 SIC codes for QS-9000.
